How Is Adenovirus Spread?
The different types of the virus can be spread in various ways. Respiratory and intestinal infections can be spread through contaminated droplets in the air (coughing, sneezing) as well as through fecal matter. Adenovirus Serotype 14 is a serovar of adenovirus and differs from other forms of adenovirus in that it can be quite fatal. Ad14 as it is commonly refered to as, is a very rare but emerging virus that can quite often cause severe respiratory infection and death. While quite rare (only 10 cases have proven fatal in the United States since 2006) it is important to take precautions against transmission where possible.
